Another reading plan? You have got to be kidding?
I am not the kind of guy that doesBible reading plans. My personality is not to follow a daily schedule – but to ”fly by the seat of the….. anointing?”
Anyway a friend of mine showed me a system of Bible reading by Grant Horner. That was two years ago and I
have to admit that it has been GREAT for me.
In a nutshell you read 10 chapters a day. Radical!
(Read your bible in a nutshell?)
So, It takes you on a journey reading Acts and Proverbs every month. You visit the Gospels four times a year and so forth.
It starts to knit the entire Bible together and the discipline of reading so much a day has really stoked my spiritual fire. If you don’t get all the chapters read in a day – so what? Just keep going tomorrow. Who says you have to be a legalist?
If your reading plan works great for you. keep it up. If not, I challenge you to give this a try.

It’s a great reading plan. If it weren’t for my assigned reading for class, I would keep doing this. It gives you a whole new perspective on the connections throughout the Bible.
Jacob, thanks for sharing the Bible reading plan. Looks great! I was wondering where you would bring the Word of God into the triangle. Reading the Bible, is for me, as important as prayer. It is my lifeline.
Would you put Bible reading and Bible study in the category of prayer in your triangle? Or maybe in the middle of the triangle? What would you say?
Dave, great observation. To me the area of PRAYER covers meditation, waiting, prayer, intercession, fasting, bible reading, bible study – anything that has to do with my relationship to God. The apostles were told to dedicate themselves to PRAYER and the MINISTRY of the word. (Prayer and evangelism) So prayer to me includes all my communion with Jesus. I like the idea, however, of putting something in the middle. What is your triangle?
I’ve been doing this reading plan for the last month or so and it is changing my life! I highly recommend doing it!
Yes! I am going to do this! I already was reading in non-logical, but now I have a system for it! And I just bought a new bible, but feel totally unhappy with reading it. I will continue using my old bible now and do the 10 lists! Jippie!! Thanks Jacob!
I like the bit of humor in your post – thank you for the laugh! Yes, I imagine it would be pretty cramped, trying to read my Bible in a nutshell…doubt I’d fit! ; )
On a more serious note, I’m really looking forward to trying this because I was actually just wondering what to do as far as devotions/a reading plan. So thank you for the suggestion! God bless the work of your hands & the words you speak. I still wish it were feasable for me to come work with you in Madrid!
