Message versus Information

You are a soul winner.

Every Christian is a soul winner.  Some soul winners are evangelists.

All soul winners have a message from God to give to the people of earth.  What happens many times though, is rather than communicating a message, we are just giving information.  There is a big difference.

Information.  Anyone can learn the right things to say.  Even a pagan.  We can repeat facts about Jesus’ life and even give them the formula for salvation:  to repent and believe.  I can give you an amazing structure for preaching an evangelistic message and you can follow it point by point.  Yet it can still just be dry, boring information.  Too many times our personal evangelism, testimonies and preaching is just that: information.

Message.  A message on the other hand is information PLUS.  You have been commissioned as an ambassador and given a message that is a matter of life or death to the listener.  The Message actually lives inside of you, has become one with you, burns within you.  You feel as though you would burst if you don’t communicate the message.  Jeremiah said it was like fire in his bones.  Paul pleaded as if God was making his appeal through him.  The Message is so charged with truth that at times we cry, we plead, we shout, we reason.  It is charged with the power of the Holy Spirit.  He takes your information, electrifies it and sends it flying into the souls of men.

As you evangelize, call out to God for revelation of the Message.  The more it becomes real to you, the more effective you will be.

Excellent point, Jacob. I am afraid that there have been too many times that I just gave out information…
