Three things matter in 1848

by jacob bock

John Hunt was born in England in 1812. He became a Wesleyan Methodist Missionary to Fiji in 1838 traveling between various mission stations on the Fijian islands. He translated the New Testament into Tongan and worked on the Old Testament until he died.

During his short life he set his heart on three things:

  • The conversion of the Fijians
  • The translation of scripture
  • The revival of scriptural holiness

Hunt was only 36 years-old when he died of dysentery. What can God do with a life dedicated to him? Three things mattered to John Hunt in 1848; three things changed eternity for the souls of thousands of people. So what are the three things that matter to you in 2011?
