Tozer tells us what matters
Our guest writer today is A.W. Tozer; pastor and devotional writer from the mid 20th century.
What Really Matters?
For what hath man of all his labour . . . wherein he hath laboured under the sun? Ecclesiastes 2:22
It is all but impossible these days to get people to pay any attention to things that really matter. The broad cynic in our modern civilization is likely to ask: “What really matters, after all?”
It is our personal relationship to God that really matters!
That takes priority over everything else, for no man can afford to live or die under the frowning displeasure of God. Yet, name one modern device that can save him from it. Where can a man find security? Can philosophy help him? or psychology? or science? or atoms or wonder drugs or vitamins?
Only Christ can help him, and His aid is as old as man’s sin and man’s need.
- We must trust Christ completely.
- We must carry our cross daily.
- We must love God and our fellow men.
- We must fulfill our commission as ambassadors of Christ among men.
- We must grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and come at last to our end like a ripe shock of corn at harvest time.
These are the things that really matter!
Lord, the world tells me that fitness and finances are the measures for success and happiness. But I know in my heart that my personal relationship with You is the one thing in my life that really matters!

Yeahmahn, a suh mi like it…as they would say here in Jamaica about something they like…AND the CHURCH sleeps. The CHURCH, WE…know the truth, taste the truth, love the truth, study the truth, experience the truth, and then…we KEEP IT TO OURSELVES. Mamma mia. Can we even really imagine what it means to be in touch with the Living God and know it for certain? The average person scrounges around like a cockroach looking for some dirt to ingest in order to scurry around some more. The nasty creature (cockroach and man) runs from the light because it knows it will show how filthy he is, and yet it’s just that, the LIGHT, JESUS, Who can help that dirty insect to get clean which will make him less mean!!! HENCE WE PREACH, PROCLAIM, and SHARE the Gospel…in the highways and by ways…of the world…here in Kingston, there in Spain…but oh what pain, when you try to pull that molar out of their comfortable pew!!! To get four or five brothers in Christ to get out there with you is worse than trying to get a tooth out with a tooth pick!!! BUT, NEVERTHELESS “at your WORD I will let down my nets!!!” Luke 5:5…and we know what type of catch he had after obeying His Master, Lord, and Savior, JESUS…Rico
