Schedule it!

by jacob bock
Calendar

There is a danger in reading biographies of great men and women of God.  It will leave you thinking that they prayed and preached all day long, every day and never struggled with it. Chances are they had to schedule it into their lives like I do. Without a schedule, I wouldn’t do what is most important.  My Spirit is definitely willing, my flesh on the other hand….

As a ministry we have put prayer and evangelism on the calendar because it is a priority. Then we adjust our lives accordingly.
Because it is on my schedule, I show up. I may not feel like it everyday but that doesn’t matter. If it is on the calendar, I have committed to be there.  Then once I am engaged in the work of the ministry, the Spirit takes over and I end up enjoying it.

So if you want to pray and evangelize more:  Schedule it into your week.

“As a ministry we have put prayer and evangelism on the calendar because it is a priority.”

Loved this line because it’s so true and very much missing on the calendar of most Christians. (Now to pull out my calendar. :) )

I learned that from you HL. When I read your book for the first time, you said something like, “Put down the book and go do it!” So I ordered some tracts in English that very moment!

Yes, true. Schedules. Mine is to walk five to ten miles every day in Jamaica with my Bible under my arm and waiting for the Holy Spirit to open up the conversations and opportunities. Every day I meet new people with whom to share the Gospel. Somebody could point their finger and say, “Man, all you do is walk and socialize and some days you don’t do that either”, to which I could respond by letting them walk in my shoes from time to time. So keep up the good work. After thirty plus years in the corporate world I learned the value and beneifts of a schedule, of a routine, and of setting goals. Let’s never forget that the person who aims at nothing hits their desired target every time.

Of course, we don’t really care what “other people think” so much. But we do care what He thinks.
